I won my credit dispute, but the damage has been done!
I Won My Credit Dispute Damage is Done
Unfortunately the presence of negative information on their credit report becomes known to many people only after it has hurt them. This is why I urge being pro-active about keeping your credit reports clean by finding problems ahead of time. Credit dispute damage is preventable. Get your free annual reports every year. You can stagger them so you get one from each of the 3 major credit reporting bureaus every 4 months if you like.
Some web sites offer free monitoring with 1 credit reporting bureau. Credit Karma offers this service for free with no catches. This service will monitor your TransUnion report only. Credit Sesame offers free monitoring for Experian. Equifax you must pay for.
I believe that a credit monitoring service covering the big 3 bureaus is a good idea for many people who are serious about their credit scores. I pay a fee of $9.99 a month for this service. All credit card companies offer it. CreditIQ is a popular service with an easy to read format. To have your reports monitored more than once a month requires an extra fee.
Once negative credit bureau entry is removed..
You have rights that you probably don’t know about.Once the agency removes the inaccurate information or information whose accuracy can no longer be verified or has made a notation regarding a dispute it must take certain actions if requested.
It must furnish notification that the item has been deleted or send a summary regarding a disputed item to any person who is specifically designated by you. The requirement is that that person has within the past two years received your credit report for employment purposes, or within the last six months received your credit report for any other purposes.
Unfortunately the job or other opportunity may have evaporated by the time all this gets done. Credit dispute damage itself can take several months for resolution. No one can protect you from everything.
As the words to the immortal song “Closing Time” go…”Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
